Supporting Neurodivergent Children & Teens

The world wasn't built for neurodivergent humans

  • Clinician, lecturer & supervisor

You feel like there is nothing you can do when your child is...

Avoiding school

They say they hate it, they feel sick, they beg you not to make them go. At school, they're disengaged, overwhelmed, and barely getting through the day.

Having meltdowns

Everyday demands or things not going their way can quickly spiral into intense emotional outbursts. You’re constantly walking on eggshells, and the whole family is feeling the strain.

Anxious and withdrawn

They seem deeply unhappy and struggling inside. They pull away from the family and barely talk. You can see how much they are suffering, but they won’t let you in.

Struggling at school

They are arguing with teachers, clashing with peers, and constantly getting into trouble at school. It feels like nothing anyone has tried is making a difference.

And worst of all? No one seems to understand your child.

Family members, friends, and professionals tell you that they just need firmer discipline, that they’re manipulating you, or that they’ll grow out of it. Instead of feeling supported, you’re left feeling confused, blamed, and alone.

When you shift from managing behaviour to meeting needs, everything changes.

Your child feels safer and more supported at school. With the right help and adjustments, your child can learn and participate in ways that work for them.

They finally let go of the belief that something is wrong with them and start to recognise their own unique strengths and abilities.

Her expertise and practical approach made the session both informative and highly relevant.

Eve came into our school today and shared an excellent overview of how speech and language difficulties can present in a high school setting. We also explored a student case together, and Eve guided us on how best to support the student moving forward. Her expertise and practical approach made the session both informative and highly relevant. She explained concepts clearly, provided useful strategies that we can implement straight away. We found her input extremely valuable and would highly recommend her to other schools looking to better support students with speech and language or any other needs.

Finally able to understand after trying many therapists

It was really helpful to work with Eve, we were finally able to understand more about his fussy eating and how to deal with it. She's very caring, understanding and patient, a pleasure to work with! This was after trying many therapists who just didn't have the knowledge in this area.

    Refreshing and eye opening approach

I was recommended by the school SENCO to approach Eve and they couldn't have directed me to someone better. My daughter has an issue repeating the end of words she is saying (usually when trying to retrieve her next words or thoughts). We were discussing what the cause of this could be. More importantly Eve wanted a clear picture of my daughter to see the bigger picture and how she can guide me to help her not just in her speech but in her overall confidence. Eve's approach was refreshing and eye opening, giving me the confidence in how to deal with my daughter. It has only been a couple of days since i spoke to her but already i can feel the difference i have, not second guessing myself how i am responding to my daughter's speech and behaviours. A huge thank you!

Sessions became a highlight of the week

The SENCO our daughters' college introduced us to Eve and it's our honour to strongly endorse that recommendation. Her high level of sensitivity, captured M's confidence from the day go and these sessions quickly became a highlight of the week. With extreme professionalism and care, the focused and structured lessons turned a tense, confused M. into a smiling capable girl, armed with all the tools necessary to handle some of her greatest challenges.

Extremely empathetic and generous with her time

Working in a medical advocacy and support charity I have contacted Eve a number of times regarding children who have struggles tolerating medication. On each occasion she has been extremely empathetic and willing to give of her own time to guide parents with her professional advice in this area and navigate to resources to help them. This has made a huge difference specifically where no other alternative medication maybe available for the child to tolerate subsequently affecting their health.

Eve offered her services to our organisation - Compass, with such a spirit of generosity and passion for which we remain eternally grateful. The clients that she met in our clinics and the training she delivered, was consistently of the highest quality, and positive feedback from the service users was outstanding. Kudos to you Eve, for your dedication to championing the neurodiverse community in such a selfless manner.

    Thoughtful and grounded conversations

Working with Eve was simply connecting with a like-minded professional who really understood where I was coming from. Our conversations were thoughtful and grounded, and she had a great way of guiding me through the areas I wanted to develop without it ever feeling forced. She created a space where I felt comfortable to reflect, and she often noticed strengths or patterns that I hadn't fully seen myself. I really appreciated her calm, supportive approach and found our time together both helpful and encouraging. I'm excited to grow professionally and personally through Eve's supervision.

    An excellent presentation

I can really feel what an autistic child feels like. When you know what people are going through you can help them more. Everything was brilliant – it was very clear and extremely pleasant to listen to. I enjoyed to hear how it was a journey for you as well. An excellent presentation, thank you.

You gave me a much broader perspective

I thought I was well read on autism, and you gave me a much broader perspective, a more positive one, and also that neurotypical people should be the ones making the accommodation. Everything was very clear. It was good that you took questions mid presentation, it kept me on topic. Thank you so much.

BSc, PGCert, MSc

As a late-diagnosed ADHDer and mum of neurodivergent kids, with over 15 years experience working with neurodivergent people and their families, I can tell you this.

So many neurodivergent people grow up believing they're difficult. Problematic. Too much. They carry that belief everywhere they go. And it's not true. It comes from years of being made to feel that way by a world that didn't understand them.

I do this work because I want that to change. And as a neurodivergent person myself, this isn't just professional for me. It's personal.

I want your child to grow up feeling self-love, compassion, and genuine acceptance for exactly who they are.

When we stop seeing behaviour as something to fix and start understanding what lies underneath it, everything begins to change. When you learn to recognise your child’s needs, adjust the environment around them, and support their nervous system rather than fighting against it, children are able to thrive and flourish in their own way.

This shift doesn’t just help your child. It changes the experience of parenting too. Instead of feeling stuck in cycles of frustration, conflict and overwhelm, you begin to feel calmer, more confident and more connected to your child. You’re able to support them in a way that truly works for who they are.

I am a highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and Senior Mental Health Practitioner, with over 15 years’ experience in the NHS and in independent practice. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Autism and a Master’s degree in Psychology. My work includes clinical practice, supervision, university lecturing, and delivering training. I currently work part-time in the NHS in a mental health setting, and in independent practice. I am also a committee member for a Clinical Excellence Network, supporting professional learning for over 800 clinicians who work in neurodevelopmental pathways.
